I just did a google search and the story is on the front page of many of Florida's major newspapers and it's blowing up on social media. This story isn't going away. They need to strongly disassociate themselves from the Trump coup loving heiress and pledge not to donate to the campaigns of any of the senators or representatives who supported Trump's self coup.
This isn't a big ask.

(113 posts)The wife and I are looking for other supermarkets to shop at near us. Winn-dixie, Save-a-lot, Aldi's and even though Walmart is on my crap list I'd rather go there than Publix.

(34,661 posts)generations to come,on how a Employee Owned Retailer loses Customers as the result of the single largest Stock Holder, assuming the E-SOP is still in place, uses her fortune to help over throw the US Government by force.
One has to have empathy for the rank and file employees who not only pull a hourly wage but also receive script in lieu a cash dividend . Image is everything in retail. Especially Retail Groceries were margins are figured in single digit or less profits.

(4,267 posts)The store is always clean, friendly, run my by a fantastic staff of employees. Quality food and other products available in their bakeries, delis. Very strict with their staff rules about masks and other safety procedures for COVID, staffed with someone at the shopping cart pickup who wipes them down for safety.
If you boycott Publix, you aren't hurting the heiress. She's worth a ton of money just as she is, and likely earns enough in interest and via other avenues to live like royalty for the rest of her days.
The ones who will be hurt are the employees and store owners, who are primarily former employees. My older brother's first job was at Publix, taking groceries to peoples' cars. They treated him well, paid him fairly, and he had chances to move up.
My local Publix is quite good about hiring HS students and working with them re scheduling. They also hire young adult developmentally disabled folks. Some of them have been with this store for 10+ years.
That said, it is the Publix corporation that gave a whole bunch of money to Gov. DeathSentence.

1. @Publix heiress Julie Jenkins Fancelli gave $300K to finance the January 6 event that turned into a riot.
That was the bulk of the funding.
Publix is saying they have nothing to do with Francelli.
BUT Publix that isn't the full story.
