Are you outside Tennessee struggling to get vaccine also?

I have age 70+ friends and acquaintances who have to enlist relatives to look up websites of all the pharmacies and all the county health boards daily to see if they can get a vaccine appointment. And there's a signup system, county by county, that seems to drop one's subscription daily.

Are the rest of you having problems getting vaccines? Myself, I'm too young so enduring until April anyway. It just feels so bad that people who need it cannot get vaccinated, so I wanted to check with y'all to see if it's just a Tennessee self-determining pride thing to distribute vaccine this way. Thanks for your insights.

1. well, I am in Tennessee

and it just seems like too little vaccine stock available. The front line health care workers are all getting scheduled, but the age groups are not budging.

My employer (in another state) was able to get the high risk people (me) scheduled where I work. (my work location is another state).
I have been sheltered in place in my Tennessee home for 11 months with a long leave of absence.

I will be traveling on Monday for my first vaccine out of 2.

I hadn't seen this problem as two tracks, but I agree with you. Now I realize: when I do hear of a vaccinated person, generally it's someone in health care setting.

Hope we are past this "pirhana swim" system soon.

It is quite sketchy, and even the Board of Health puts out info that immediately gets updated.
But, for the most part the update is that the allotment of vaccine or appointment times are done.

2. Same thing here in Pennsylvania...

So frustrating and no rhyme or reason for anything. My friends are spending hours on line trying to get appointments. We were lucky to get appointments at our local Rite Aid but it was a long and painful experience.
Our doctor is getting the vaccine but she is not taking appointments and it will be a drive through in her tiny parking lot on a very busy street. Sounds like a clusterfuck to me.

4. NY, and many problems with the supplies of vaccine. Every place listed for appts. says...

"No Appointments Available".

The VA is no help, either.

6. There aren't enough vaccines right now.

There are ~55 million people age 65+ and ~87 million frontline workers in this country. So you have close to half of the adult population that is eligible for stage 1 of the vaccine rollout. Hopefully they'll all be vaccinated by the end of April.

7. 74 or 76?

If you are over 75 you are 1b and should have no problem getting to a nearby city.

Phone banks? You register ahead of time and show up. Relatives or friends can't call for you.

If you are 65 to 75 then you are 1c and can't register yet. Soon but not yet.

In Maricopa County in AZ 260,000 people have been vaccinated, a pretty healthy number for just 1a and 1b.

9. My housemate is 81, and there is no vaccine out there

I live in Maryland. "They" say that in my county, there are a lot of emergency workers so it seems there is no vaccine left for anybody else.

And in Group 1b as is spousal unit who is 68 and has health problems that put him in that group. We have both taken the survey and all we get is a weekly promise that "we'll let you know." Yeah well. Group 1b has supposedly begun vaccinating. I'm sure they'll let us know. /s

I finally registered to make an appointment this morning,
and it said I was eligible but.. no appointments available.

All filled up apparently.

I hope they contact me when space frees up.

My sister-in-law got her first shot yesterday.
They are only administering it on Tues and Thur.

12. NYC (Manhattan). Standard response

from online State and City vaccination sites is, "No Appointments Available". Or, they don't have vaccine. I keep trying but have pretty much realized I may have to wait until there's simply more vaccine supply doled out by the Federal Government, as well as pharmacy availability (as with Flu shots). Right now, here, the big pharmacy chains (CVS, Walgreens, etc.) are not vaccinating.

13. Here in NYC my wife tries daily to get on the list but is having no luck. No vaccine available. Also

the sign up procedure is convoluted and difficult.

14. I am soon to be 70 and on about 4 waiting lists in NC

that I signed up for on-line. One of them has e-mailed me back to indicate they are tracking me and will notify me when they can give me an appointment.

I do have friends who have managed to get first doses, but they either spent a hellish amount of time on the phone tracking down appointments or traveled out of their counties when they heard a nearby county had appointments available. Having just recently moved and still dealing with all the hassle of a new house, I figure I will hunker down--in my new house--and wait until there is more supply to pursue anything other than waiting to be contacted by one of the groups where I'm wait listed.

15. No problem in San Diego, CA

I belong to Kaiser-Permanente HMO. I'm 76. I made an appointment online. Earliest appointment was in 7 days and 40 minute drive. I took it. No waiting at all, got the shot (Pfizer) waited the 15 minutes and was back home in 45 minutes. Second shot on 2/19 just ten minutes from home.
