Some Here Are Concerned The Repubs Won't Vote To Impeach

It really doesn't bother me much, because I believe they'll be forever tainted. The people they're worried about turning on them if they would vote to impeach are a shrinking demographic, so it's a lose-lose for them.

didn't feel threatened?..they too were hiding in their offices..why are they not traumatized?...the mob had the collective IQ of a folding chair but how, in their Trump-induced rage, did they know who was who? I'm not sure they did...they were more than willing to hang Pence on Trump's say-so and he was Trump's most loyal ass-kisser...

If Senate Republicans can look at the evidence before them and vote to acquit Trump, that's no strain on my conscience. And it should make for a terrific run of opposition campaign ads for every one of these seditionists when they run again.

Some people just don't care and/or want to protect their jobs and/or the GOP. That's really all it boils down to.

It doesn't take much to conclude that he's going to be acquitted. 45 of them already declared that the trial is unconstitutional. They're going to vote to convict in a trial they think is constitutionally invalid?

Nope.

"so it's a lose-lose for them"

For many, it's not, at least not in the short-term future. The ones firmly entrenched in red states are protecting their political futures instead of doing the right thing. The job and its perks and power are all that matters to them.

I look at it this way. If it was politically expedient for them to convict, they'd convict.

It's not even really about Trump. As Stuart said above, everyone knows he's guilty. It's just not enough for them to make a stand.
