This is SO compelling. My heart is racing and I'm actually crying at the reality that this happened in my country.

(115,785 posts)The many short clips and bits of footage I've already seen were bad enough, but holy shit, it's so much worse when it's put together.

And I think some of the footage was not seen before?

(16,460 posts)But I doubt it. I know most of it was new to me. (I haven't gone out of my way to look for clips, but even so...)
Either way, it's exponentially more powerful when it's assembled and shown in sequence like this. This montage tells a much fuller and more coherent story than you can get from watching clips.
I especially like the cutting back and forth between the insurrectionists and what was happening on the House floor. That really put things in perspective. Whoever edited this did a great job!

(8,338 posts)The Veterans Administration have deployed their Trauma Trailers to capitol grounds as so many are shocked and can use help that they are trained to give.
It is stunning that we have PTSD facilitators at the Capitol because of the attack on our democracy by the President of the United States. What the Fuck have we become.

(14,018 posts)time line:
1) The crazy mob leaving for the Capitol BEFORE Trump was even done with his speech.
2) the calm, formal process going on inside the Chambers, then
3) the smashing, crashing, screaming riotous mob raoming the halls, banging on doors, looking for the Chambers, looking to take hostages, then
4) rummaging thru the personal desks of the Senators' looking for, what?, anything to steal.
Horrible.
Then Trumps tweets: Hey, it's all good. You made your points, go home and god bless you.

(11,564 posts)But my most compelling emotion is anger when I do see it. I'm sad, yes, but it's hard to explain the difference between the two.
I think the closest I can come is that the sadness comes from the desecration of a symbol of what is supposed to be right and good, and the attack was against concepts and ideals.
The anger comes from the unmitigated brutishness and inhumanity of troglodytes willing - even gleeful - to create violence to achieve something that was never going to happen. Anger isn't good for me. I try to avoid it. They hurt, and even killed people, and might have turned the place into a killing field if they had got their way. Anger wouldn't have been far behind the video clips, seeing what they did and where they did it.

(21,137 posts)I find Trump revolting to the point of turning the volume down, if not muting it altogether, when he is speaking. Watching his voice-incited terror attack all over again, just hurts.
