You guys took a lot of hits in the first days after the insurrection. But the more we learn, the more we know that you went above and beyond the call of duty, at great risk to yourselves. In so doing, you probably saved our republic.
Thank you.

(8,406 posts)In the immediate aftermath the USCP was getting the ever loving shit kicked out of them. One officer took his own life, others turned in their weapons. They were accused of being disloyal, cowardly, complicit, unqualified. They were ridiculed on Twitter, Facebook, all forms of social media and old school media. They did not deserve that beating.
Their moral was low, they were battered, beaten and bruised, set upon by a mob sent by the President of the United States. This is a department of 1800 sworn officers and they were vastly outnumbered and many Monday morning quarterbacks including many here were blaming them for not shooting and killing people. It was a credit to their training that once they were set upon, they did not take the easy rout and Start shooting people.
The one person who was shot (and only one shot was fired not a hail of gunfire after the first round showing true training) was fired under what the rules of engagement dictated, to protect life. There were still Members of the House on the Floor and Galleries. That officer now has to live with the taking of a life, even though justified.
Although today has been traumatic for many, it will help the healing process, unfortunately, like pulling the bandaid off and letting air heal the wound. It hurts but hopefully leads to healing
Thank You to the USCP and Metropolitan and Fairfax, and VA State Police and Arlington Police and The Airport Authority Police and ATF and FBI and USSS and Departments that arrived on the Senate side, many from Maryland that I did not see, many arrived with out the proper gear and threw themselves into the battle to save democracy against Trumps army of goons but mostly to the USCP who were vilified.
Please remember the quote from MPD Officer Hodges.
If it wasn't my job, I would have done that for free. .. It was absolutely my pleasure to crush a white nationalist insurrection... and we'll do it as many times as it takes. Thank you, D.C. Police Officer Daniel Hodges.

And I hope they don't just sue the US; I hope they sue Trump also.

I just can't believe that we could lose the Capitol like that. I got mad. I mean these police officers had every right to use deadly force, they should have used it

Outnumbered they sure could have used deadly force, just what trumps army was waiting for. The return fire would have been a bloodbath.
FU Graham...you got mad?
It is trump and your fault they were there. You enable him.

(5,259 posts)Police were doing, and Most of them were able to hold back the insurrectionists enough to save our Democracy, for this I am very thankful. You are serious heroes that will not be forgotton to history.
Now, is the time to call out the bad apples among our police forces around the country, our freedom and Democracy depends on it.

(1,560 posts)I remember talk of insider infiltration in days immediately after. Today it was shown that they are truly heroes. Bad asses to be honest. Left out on their own to die with the rest of those in the Capital!
I am flabbergasted that the orange shitgibbon is most likely to be acquitted. What a bunch of cowards these heroes were protecting that shameful day!
While I was watching todays proceedings I couldnt help but to think that some watching were doing so with fond memories of that day. Disgusting!

A tragedy, really.

And a few acres in the backwoods somewhere that they can retire and live comfortably, quietly, and happily with their better half and all their kids.
Republicans can retire in a closet using a bucket as a toilet.
Sorry, but I just lost it for a second there.

To act like they weren't sacrificed to fight (and die) alone, without support, is the real question.
