For far too many years, both Twitter and Facebook have let misinformation run rampant on their sites. Facebook continues to do little to stop the problem. Right-wing groups have used the sites to help organize violence.
Twitter, however, has been making it a point to eliminate users who violate their guidelines. The coup de grâce came in early January when the service permanently banned Donald Trump from their platform.
And while Trump is gone, that doesnt mean the work it done. My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell was recently removed from Twitter. And now the site has banned Project Veritas, a Conservative action group that regular promotes doctored and misleading videos.

(1,000 posts)Funny you should mention Facebook and rampant misinformation. Months ago I laughed my butt off at a meme that appeared to be Jeff Bridges (look alike?) as a disheveled Doctor that made a wild ass claim about Covid. At the bottom of the meme, it said something to the affect that "No, that is not true, I just made this meme 15 minutes ago, don't believe everything you see on Facebook or Twitter." I thought it was so funny because here in Ohio our local newspapers FB page has been shock full of Covid deniers and misinformation. Our Republican Governor tried to do the right thing, and he will not be re-elected, and our Public Health Director, Dr. Amy Acton, was stalked at her home and threatened until she quit for her and her families safety. So after months of trying to post accurate information to counter balance the misinformation, yesterday I received a notice from Facebook that they were taking down the meme I posted because, wait for it, misinformation on Covid, all these months later. So, yeah, that new initiative of Zuckerberg's to "lower the temperature" politically? I think we can all see which way the wind blows on that one. Spend five years juicing the division now it's time to lower the temperature, just like Covid misinformation, better late than never I guess.
