(25,485 posts)I don't think this is going to change anything where the 44 are concerned, but it does add to the mountain of evidence provided to the real target audience, the American people.
In the end, the only way he's truly held accountable in a commensurate way is if some jurisdiction prosecutes him and he's convicted.

(146,333 posts)this trial out over a long period. Witnesses will be under oath and subject to the penalties of perjury. They are going to say things that further incriminate Donald John Trump, and those may not be limited to just what happened on January 6.
Trump has alienated many people who were once on his side in his lies and subterfuges. He threw many people under his bus over time. Some of them are going to tell the truth about what happened to lead up to January 6.
It's payback time for Trump's mistreatment of those he forced to support him, and panic time for many who never stopped lying for Trump.
Trump cannot handle the extended revelations that will emerge. Some of those witnesses may also appear in federal and state criminal proceedings.
Trump's cover is gone at this point. Without the witnesses, the Senate trial would have been over today, with an acquittal of Trump giving him a bragging point. Now, it will NOT be over today, and the truth will continue to come out, over and over again, from the witnesses.

BTW, I just read that former Sen. McCaskill is saying they will not be brought to the Senate Chamber, but will simply be deposed and their deposition will be read to the Senators. Have you seen or heard this as well?
Again, thanks.
