if anyone knows. What I'm wondering is, if they evacuated the building, would they have met with the domestic terrorists outside? Sorry if it's a weird question, but I'm curious

(115,829 posts)but there's a network of tunnels under the government buildings so if they left the capitol they would probably have used those.

(11,632 posts)After the initial breach the terrorists were opening doors to let others in. Trying to evacuate would've been far too dangerous.

(4,220 posts)They were just sitting around in a big room, maskless, refusing masks. They didnt even look concerned. Others were terrified. Were they thinking they were safe since they were aligned with trump? By the way, I detest Perry.

(23,362 posts)I think some of the reps and maybe senators have their office in a nearby building, not in the capitol itself. Those would be connected by tunnel. Is the Library of Congress connected by a tunnel? I thought I remember that from years ago, but could be wrong (surprise).
I'd bet Pence was not in the building after Secret Service whisked him away.

(33,189 posts)Speaker Pelosi had changed clothes (I don't blame her) and returned for the continuing certification. She mentioned it in her interview in the Capitol Speaker's office a few days later.

(8,344 posts)Some members who were in the Capitol barricaded in their offices and were later reunited with others members by Uscp teams who were going office to office extracting Members and Staff who were trapped.
Members of the House and Senate who were in the office buildings were for the most part safe as the attack was on the Capitol itself and not the office buildings. But many joins in the hold feeling there was safety in numbers.
