Who else does Abbot think should be blamed for the mess he's caused? Oh, right: the flaming socialists.

(33,346 posts)All these RWNJ in office know the propaganda machine demonizes certain Democrats above others. When an elected GOPer comes under fire from other GOPers, they just mention one or more of the demons and the Pavlovian response turns the ire toward the demon. Moscow Mitch does this in every campaign for re-election -- his ads showed Amy McGrath with Nancy Pelosi, AOC, and Chuck Schumer. Before that, it was all Obama and Pelosi.

But EVERYTHING has shut down; coal stacks are frozen and cant be burned. Nukes are closed. Most gas lines are frozen and cant supply the power plants.
Poor planning
And the entire nations electrical grid needs MUCH upgrading.

Go ahead and watch the interview with hanitty, AOC IS pointing out his stupidity, and the fact that he is wasting time on TV instead of being diligently working to help people, but as we learned from the ex-Mayor of Colorado City, TX. Tim Boyd, his Ayn Rand diatribe caused him his job, and I have to think that their republican counterparts did not ask him to resign so much for what he said, but for exposing what they all think.

(3,974 posts)That another poster is supporting a democratic elected official vs. a Republican Governor caught lying. Is there a problem with that?
Or are you claiming she is supporting the republican over the democrat? That is a very serious accusation to make against her.

(3,974 posts)that you are supporting a democrat over a republican. Am I mistaken?
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)I think it serves no good purpose for any elected representative to use twitter to insult others... no matter who... no matter which party. You may take it at face value without making assumptions.
Dem4Life1102
(3,974 posts)Abbot went on FAUX News last night and lied. AOC called him out for it. Why is there a problem with that. Shouldnt we call people out for lying?
NurseJackie

NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)Dem4Life1102
(3,974 posts)The Green New Deal has not been passed or enacted in any way. There is no way it is responsible for the problems in Texas in any way. That is fact, not opinion. Shouldnt we all call out republicans when they lie?
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)... and I've expressed no opinion on that matter. Feel free to keep guessing.

(3,974 posts)He clearly lied.
NurseJackie

(3,974 posts)but a matter of fact. Even Bill Gates called him out on it. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/bill-gates-texas-gov-greg-abbott-power-outage-claims-climate-change-002303596.html
And the only thing Ive presumed is that on a site dedicated to supporting democrats, you are supporting a democrat who called out a republican who lied.

(6,176 posts)It don't come free. Ya gots to spend money to insure the systems are able to work in worst case conditions.
Texas government wasn't interested in that; only wanted to insure big profits for the energy industry. So, no regulation, no investment, no cooperation with energy providers outside of Texas = no energy when they need it the most.
Republicans can't see beyond their immediate need to make money.
And all of Texas suffers.

(15,942 posts)I didn't know my worthless gov. was going on the propagandist network to bash renewable energy. And I'm extremely happy to see AOC ready and willing to help take the fight to him.
I spent over 24hrs without power. I worry about people who have died or could possibly die as a result of incompetence and negligence on the part of ERCOT.
The blame goes to the idea we would allow a non-profit to control our power systems is absurd to say the least.
The Board of Directors (which some live out of state) pay themselves an annual salaries of a total $6,416,592.
There's a lot of explaining to do but of course the investigation is sure to be one sided. And by the looks of things that is what will happen. But we will keep the pressure up, that is for sure!
