The 'ugly piece of humanity'' called other countries '$hi*holes. He and his ilk plotted and facilitated turning ours into almost one as such.

Not much left except for a facade.

Years ago, Texas went into an anti-government/anti-regulation mode on steroids in order to attract businesses and workers to the state with low taxes and few rules to govern the operation of a company. That environment also allowed crucial functions to human existence like utilities to be built and ran without reliability regulations and availability controls.

Those regulatory rules include comprehensive routine and preventative maintenance programs, along with failure mode analysis for all crucial systems. Most utilities in the U.S. pay stiff penalties for failure to meet regulatory standards and their failure rates are extremely low.

The stupidity of running utilities on razor-thin margins outside a regulatory environment for years is now evident....

Texas also has a sorry record on workplace safety, with hundreds of lives lost as a result. Just ask the citizens of West, Texas (2013) and Texas City (1947, 2005) for example, about their experiences.

BBC World news has picked up his sound byte and it's worldwide now. He and Tucker, cut from the same cloth, won't be able to hide the gaping wounds of disingenuous blame gaming now.

I'm reminded of the saying "if you point a finger at someone you'll have three fingers pointing back at yourself." Something like that. . . Anyway, you get the just of it.

I'm sick thinking about all of the ruined lives, especially the little ones, who will be devastated and traumatized by this disaster. It breaks my heart. I'm worried that some people, already tetering on the edge of a final breakdown, could be pushed over the edge to who knows what life altering action. I am sick with worry thinking about it.

A failure of leadership and a piss poor example of compassionate support. Just plain evil.

These are the things that cause folks to give up permanently. I wish I knew how to be some help. Sometimes all we can do is to just give it to God.

Even if these kinds 'come to the end of themselves', they still won't 'quit' and deliberately choose to continue in their ways. Woe unto them! That's what their bible says...

If the last four years have taught us nothing else, hopefully it has made some progress in waking the slower 40% of the country up to that.

After a 2011 episode where blackouts were used in Texas , it was recommended to the energy companies they needed to winterize more, which they did little. ERCOT had zero power to make them upgrade to make it more reliable for generation of energy for Texas. Blaming green energy claiming they caused this shows either how stupid Abbott is, or how he's more interested in covering his own ass for his incompetence from doing nothing about it, and promoting lies. Natural gas froze up, and instrumentation problems from the severe cold shut down many energy plants, including nuclear, natural gas, coal, and they were not set up for this kind of severe cold weather. Abbott will never win another election in Texas, and Cruz won't either .
