General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe wife and I got our second Pfizer yesterday. Both in our early 70's and had heard anecdotal.....
..... reports that senior citizens seem to tolerate the second shot better than the youngsters.
We have a family member that is an EMT and therefore got the shot early on. The second shot "hit" the young EMTs like a light to a mild case of the flu yet the older EMTs not even one flu-like symptom.
So I'm guessing all those years of exposure to flu, colds, sore throats, and the myriad other "bugs" in daily life have helped us to build a cache of antibodies the just ignored the new vaccine and let it do its thing.
My total guess is that senior public school staff who have worked for years in what is fondly referred to as a "large petri dish" during flu and cold seasons will have the same non-reaction to the Pfizer Covid shots.
This in NO WAY is suggesting that teachers don't need to have the vaccine before opening schools. THEY DO!
Remember this is only a guess with no real personal data to support the hypothesis.
Here's hoping there is some truth to my ramblings.
One final note:
Thanks President Biden for finally treating the Covid pandemic for what it is, REAL and need of government intervention.

(1,328 posts)My wife and I got our second Moderna shot a week ago. At 69 and 70 we found the effects of the second shot to be a bit worse than the first. Remember your last decent hangover? Thats what it felt like. As we moped around the house wed ask each other, how are you feeing? The reply? Its working!
Best hangover i ever had.

(22,878 posts)and we are eligible for the vaccine right now.. at the rate we are going now, we will be lucky to get our vaccines by May.. sigh.. but the more people who get their vaccines will cut down on the number of variants which protect us while we wait.. so I am doing the happy dance for you guys

(4,220 posts)Slight arm discomfort and thats it. The nurse told me to move my arm throughout, like in waving or doing the upper part of jumping jacks and it worked. My arm pain with Dose 1 was much worse. Glad I took her advice.
Wanted to add in regards to your reference to age: our great-nephew got really sick after his second dose but only for 24 hours. Hes about 24 and a teacher.
