(8,044 posts)Gitmo is an abberation and should be shut down. We have federal prisons on the mainland which will do just fine.

(121,860 posts)Prosecute them in our criminal courts pursuant to the law, then sentence them to an appropriate prison in accordance with the sentencing guidelines. We've always advocated for affording due process to the foreign alleged terrorists (who are currently rotting in Gitmo without even a trial) by prosecuting them in our criminal courts and, if they are found guilty, sending them to a US prison. If Zacarias Moussaoui, Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, shoe bomber Richard Reid, and Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the underwear bomber, along with some 400 other foreign terrorists, can be held in US prisons, so can the Capitol defendants. Gitmo is an atrocity that should have been shut down years ago.

(3,297 posts)It would be the one sure way to get it closed. You start sending white repubs there and it would be shut down post haste.

(3,904 posts)I voted for the traitors to go to GITMO, but that just kicks the can, when this needs to be shut down.
What I do suggest is long sentences with tails, parole and them peeing in a cup 3x per week for years. All these traitors should not be allowed to drink for decades.
I voted wrong on this b4 my initial post, then I saw undo, so now I fixed it and this post.

(7,077 posts)... and revoke their citizenship so that when/if they are released, they are deported to somewhere that will take them. We have no need for domestic terrorists to further incite the next generation of terrorists

(31,204 posts)It would be nice to give them a taste of their own medicine, but in reality it's a horrible idea. We can't send US citizens to Gitmo.
I'm sure this motley crew supported Gitmo for all non-citizens. I'm sure they support Gitmo for all assylum seekers and dreamers.
It would be nice to see them stripped of their rights, but what goes around comes around...
