We have lost our way as thinking individuals...

Because we feel as though we are literally attempting to save our civilization and our being. We are fighting very powerful dark forces which are attempting to send us back to the Dark Ages intellectually and spiritually. This is all true and necessary.

However, there was a time when I for one, attempted to expand my mind and my intellect. I came upon this Q And A session and found it to be a much more worthwhile half hour than listening, say, to George Stephanopoulos question some RW monster.

It is Neil Degrasse Tyson discussing dimensionality of the Universe and our ability to perceive a Universe which may be more complex than our species can understand. It is exquisitely profound and thought-provoking.

Two-pronged.

I enjoyed his opening stating that opinion or politics does not contravene facts.

explain the beginnings and nature of the universe in ways we can understand. It starts with the concept that the universe is made up of as many galaxy’s as there are grains of sand in all beaches on earth each containing billions of stars. It’s a remarkable documentary that sheds light on many of the most mind boggling concepts as what is and/or does “nothingness” exists in the universe.

When all the galaxies are swallowed by all the black holes, the black holes will swallow each other, until the universe is right back where it started and so it will start again.

Bang.

It is They

The regressive religious right
which has always been opposed to critical thinking and reason
and Reading and Writing and Rithmatic
especially since it was first popularized via the Renaissance

because reasoned thought disproves all their magical thinking BS
like angels and demons and fairies and elves and ghosts
and Geocentrism
all their fantasies about an imaginary afterlife
and an imaginary sky daddy
and imaginary jebus

and this anti-reason of theirs is nothing new
there has always been a Xtian Fundy presence in America

it's just gone evermore mainstream of late
because the GOP co-copted the Religious Wrong circa Reagan
and repealed the fairness doctrine in '87
giving birth to what should have been
a legal abortion of right-wing talk radio

and then Trump pumped it all up with steroids
by legitamizing Fundy Xtian White Supremacists

Radicalized Religion is the evergrowing immediate threat
the clear and present danger
but make no mistake
the God Delusion is the real root of it all

Their money. You defeat them with human values, but you must expose their one dimension mindset. That is the challenge.

open minded about the nature of being. He sounds like a materialist to me with a limited paradigm of understanding 'reality' (whatever that is).
Btw I am a retired mathematical physicist so don't think I am biased toward science.
