Trump sent cease and desist orders to any Republican Fundraising Committee, Group, and the Republican Party to stop his name or likeness in Fundraising capacity.
Two things signals flags for his future.
1. He will not be running under the Republican Party; behaps a third party.
2. He will use his name as an income source.
Either way, this is the beginning of the end of the Republican Party. The BIG SPLIT!
The former Tea Partiers sided with the Republicans and took back control of both houses in 2010. They maintained that hold for 8 years and slowly reduced to the 33 percent. If they SPLIT from the Republican party, Democrats will edge out from close elections in a three party system.
Am I wrong on my theory?

(25,111 posts)I think he is at his last straw. I do smell justice on behalf of the sane and semi-sane American people and all those who suffered and continue to suffer, and for all those who lost their lives due to COVID19. And that only mentions a few s**t*y things t-rump and the republican party has done to the USA in the past 4 years.

(46,250 posts)then they better have Plan B ready: to move ahead without him.
OTOH, if Trump initiates attacks on non-Trumpers, I believe they can invoke his name with impunity in answering his missives.

(21,862 posts)A few days ago, he called Rove a RINO. He also still plans to support challengers to people whom he deems RINOs. Clearly, Trump wants to continue to have an effect on the party. .
If I were involved in party management, I would not allow him to have it both ways -- where he can wrap himself in the Party's name but the Party can't use his name,

2. Is there a way to
Legally pay him a percentage of campaign funds? Not sure.

(47,570 posts)His business was about name and brand, and he will not let anyone else use his name as a source of revenue. He doesn't understand or care about the political ramifications.

(14,498 posts)and it works on their behalf.
Their party has been divided for decades between the old-line anti-tax wealthy backbone group and the new herds they brought into the fold to get votes by touting populist stuff like immigration and abortion. That system was kept glued together only by lies and deception and started increasingly falling apart with tRump's radicalism.
I doubt if a three-party system would work in the U.S. long-term because of the assets Republicans have free access to (money and media). Their ultra-wealthy core will always mentally and emotionally bribe any divisions back into the fold come election day.
I'm just glad they didn't send notice to the Democratic Party and I can still safely call it the Trump Virus, Trump Tax Increase, Trump War on Refugees, etc......

(10,275 posts)Get every single Republican they can to say his name, while touting their own re elections, and then send trump all the paperwork and clips necessary to sue their campaigns bankrupt.
One way or another, the GOP will tie that anchor to their own feet before they throw it overboard lol.

(94,841 posts)Point 1. Trump will NOT form a third party. Its too expensive and too much work.
Point 2. While Trump DOES want to make money off his name, its not a strategic think (nothing Trump has ever done has been strategic). Hes impulsively reacting to the idea that someone is making money off his name without giving him a cut.
