11. What saddens me is the comparison of Democrats to Black Americans
Thu Mar 11, 2021, 07:46 PM
Mar 2021

Around 85% of Black Americans are Democrats https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2016/09/13/2-party-affiliation-among-voters-1992-2016/

Only 11% of Democrats are reluctant to vaccinate - yet 25% of Black Americans are reluctant.

I get it, given our history of medical experimentation on Black Americans. But Black Americans bear a disproportionate share of the burden of COVID 19 already. Vaccine reluctance wil only increase the disparity.

the reality that sizable percentages are conservative, and of course a bunch of those are conservative men. Just look at the figures for men overall. Also, our Dem figure includes all our races.

Sure, AA are being invited to claim fear of being victimized again by evil government scientists. But we have reason to believe that precious few black women voters, especially, would accept that invitation to refuse to take care of themselves and their own. As an excuse for those who are doing just that, it might be more appealing than aligning with the trumpists.

Btw, there was far more unethical medical experimentation on white males than any other group because the vast majority of studies were intended to benefit white men.

The biggest discrimination by far was in lack of studies on subjects among those less valued -- women and minority groups. I was middle aged before medical devices became reliably sized for women; I remember surgeons having to suture too-big valves into women's hearts and hoping they'd do because they'd all been tested and manufactured for men.

represents all Dems, including AA. And of course the 25% figure does include conservative AA, who would probably be a good half of the group polled, pulling the results up. Same way the cons among the 28% for whites pulls that up.

Anyway, by definition it's a poll of dumbasses in an era of intense political dumbassery, and substantial numbers will turn out to have been blowing hot air for the pollsters. Figures not available yet.

Plus the Pew Research poll which indicates taht only 15% (not 50% are likely to be conservative AA) since 85% of AA are Democrats - whiich is why the numbers don't work out. If they were evenly split they could be explained away by conservative AAs.

60. Oh, I see what you're thinking. Liberal and conservative personality,
Fri Mar 12, 2021, 11:46 AM

humanity's two main personality types, are a big part of who we are individually.

Strong conservatives would need personality transplants (and being strapped down) to become liberal-dominant, but all they have to do to align with the Democratic Party for any reason is to...align Democrat. And then drop it as quickly if they choose.

For obvious reasons, relatively few politically active AA conservatives align Republican.

Unfortunately for them, that leaves the Democratic Party as way to elect representatives to government. Most AA cons who vote Democratic align not so much with the Democratic Party as with their own AA faction within the party.

In fact, conservatives of conviction, poor things, often have to hold their noses to vote Democratic, except for issues they see as their own. And of course, sometimes some, more likely to be male, will choose not to vote. Or not to vote Democratic.

As with wearing masks in Walmart, I'm thinking we'll see everyone getting vaccinated once the pressure starts to go that way. The first time someone's boss tells them they can be vaccinated, take a big hit on their health insurance contribution, or maybe even take a hike, I think we'll see some behaviors change (if not minds). Heck, we'll probably even see bribes and rewards going to people to get vaccinated (or prove they have been). Carrot and stick.
