CNN reported:Rep. John Kavanagh, a Fountain Hills Republican who chairs the Government and Elections Committee that advanced Ugenti-Ritas measure on a party-line vote Wednesday, said GOP lawmakers are concerned about what happens to ballots automatically sent to people who have moved or have died.
Theres a fundamental difference between Democrats and Republicans, Kavanagh said. Democrats value as many people as possible voting and theyre willing to risk fraud. Republicans are more concerned about fraud, so we dont mind putting security measures in that wont let everybody vote but everybody shouldnt be voting.

And yet there's ZERO FUCKING EVIDENCE OF ANY SUCH BALLOTS BEING USED FOR FRAUDULENT VOTES.

(11,744 posts)Fraud does occur. You will never have ZERO fraud. The question is whether the measures in place balance the idea of giving all eligible voters a voice at the risk of a tiny percentage choosing to engage in fraud, that has NO effect on the election, and carries heavy penalties.
NOW, another question to ask is, "Why do Republicans have to resort to disenfranchising people, and engaging in dirty tricks all the time, to win elections?" I think that THIS question is more salient to the state of our democratic process. Who gets caught committing elections fraud more? Republicans. Whenever you hear about ballots being lost, or harvested illegally, or robocalls with the wrong date, or telling people that ICE will be at voting locations, or people carrying guns near polling places, etc... it is always Republicans. Why is that? and how does it tie in to trying to make laws making it more difficult for people to vote?
There is a fundamental difference between Democrats and Republicans. Democratic policies are geared toward the wellbeing of most voters and others, so naturally we think that more people would favor Democratic politics. Republicans serve the wealthy and powerful, and have nothing for the average person, so naturally they want to limit voting to those in their base who are most readily aroused to participate in voting.
