Texas, 'OPEN 100%,' has nation's 3rd-worst vaccination rate

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott mentioned the state's vaccination pace as a reason to lift his mask mandate and COVID restrictions effective last week, saying in a March 2 tweet that, "Texas is OPEN 100%.'' He didn't mention that Texas trails most states in vaccination rate.

A USA Today analysis of the most recent CDC data shows only Georgia and Alabama rank below Texas in the percentage of residents receiving at least one vaccine dose. Texas' rate of 19%, which is tied with Tennessee, gets dwarfed by neighboring New Mexico, which leads all states at 30%.

while NM still hasn’t vaccinated its 70 year-olds. There just aren’t enough vaccines available here(I live in NM), whereas TX must have plenty of vaccines, but not enough people willing to be vaccinated

70 year-olds who haven’t even gotten their appointments. They should have gotten their vaccinations by now.

But, we'll never be told. Because, then we'd see the special interest groups getting let through the velvet rope.

Percentages of vaccinated people are a useless statistic.

Many New Mexicans are getting vaccinated in Amarillo. I don’t know what is going on here, but when people from our state are having to go to TX to get vaccines, then you know something in our vaccination program is messed up.

11. In two weeks all states will start receiving many many more doses of vaccine. Almost double.

And many will be the J&J which as we know is one and done...

Then the real test will be each states system of doling out what they get. Texas naturally has been doing a poor job of giving out what they have been getting. But getting a lot more doses per week will help even the poorly run way some states are performing this task...

OMHO.

Gambling that the current lull in case numbers is not a shift in the dominant strain.
