40. I don't have bad days - I have bad weeks, months or years
Wed Mar 17, 2021, 08:43 PM

Such as after a horseback ride, the horse slams her head into mine, fracturing the eye socket, and causing so much bleeding that I went blind in that eye for a month. Then later that week, the same horse's colt was feeling frisky at a show and kicked me in the thigh on that side since I couldn't see what he was doing.

Later that year, the same colt, still frisky, reared and snatched my shoulder. Although I couldn't lift that arm, I waited for three months to see a doctor. Six months after that when they finally operated, the should had to be completely reconstructed since only three of the rotator cuff ligaments were intact and the cartilage inside the joint was shredded.

Wait - I just thought of a bad day. The day the stallion that I had raised from a foal died of a heart attack in front of me. I try to write it out of my memory because twenty years later it still hurts.

Remember this movie ? Falling Down part of the urban revenge genre of the time
in this one it played with th idea that a deadbeat wife abusing white man having a bad day can senselessly threaten and kill strangers over everyday frustrations we all have and yet be heroic to a certain sector of the audience

50. When you have to deal with Verizon customer support
Thu Mar 18, 2021, 04:45 PM
Mar 2021

first thing in the morning.

- Then deal with another website's customer support (providing you can find a link to it)

- And then the plumber comes to replace a toilet, only the new toilet's bowl, ordered from Amazon, has a long crack along the bowl.

- And you know Amazon's seller will want you to mail the heavy, bulky part back, with heaven only knows how much postage, provided you, age 69 with a bad back, can get it to the post office to begin with. Which you can't.

- Meanwhile the plumber discovers a 6-inch-high ant mound or something under the old toilet. Thank heaven it was uninhabited. After you and he clean it up, he replaces the old toilet until you can get a replacement bowl.

- This confirms what you've suspected: you have a carpenter ant (or termite) problem. It will cost $$. And you have two small dogs and you don't want anything poisonous anyplace in your house or yard.

- But then you discover that the home improvement website you use never got your credit card payment, and your membership has expired, so you can't look for a safe nontoxic exterminating company until that gets resolved. And it doesn't, until the next day.

- And you wake up the next morning and the first thing your dog does is puke on the doormat.
