No matter who wins, Obama is America's Choice

Here is what we know about the election.

1) Either Obama or Romney might win the election

2) On election day the majority of American adults will want Obama to be reelected


This is the system.

Every election cycle we see the switch from focus on what Americans think to what voters think, because they are not the same group. Everyone knows that Americans want Obama to be President. But it is an open question what the voting subset of Americans wants.

People who work a lot are going to vote less. People who are afraid of authority are going to vote less. Single mothers and disabled people are going to vote less. People who distrust the system in general are going to vote less. It is the nature of the world.

We can improve participation, of course, but at the end of the day the least powerful will always vote at a somewhat lower rate.
