Which do you think was the better look for the GOP in Georgia? Making it a crime to provide a bottle of water to a voter waiting in a long line to vote or having a black female legislator arrested for knocking on the Governors door while he signed a racist bill designed to suppress the black vote, while standing with a bunch of white guys in front of a portrait of a plantation where slaves were kept?
Yup, some kind of PR geniuses those Georgia Republicans.

(118,748 posts)The GOP seemed confused educated elites did not vote Trump. They should prepare themselves to be dissappointed in the lack of racism in people who just want to peacefully co-exist when push comes to shove.

(1,351 posts)I know that there are a lot of political calculations that go into what the GOP does, but I truly believe that on some level they have a authentic ignorance as to how far out of touch they are with the rest of society and they way things are heading. Maybe because they spend so much time in their own echo chamber? And the are confusing loud with many (shrinking but loud base).
Stacey Abrahams was absolutely instrumental in turning GA Blue but I honestly believe what the GOP tried to do in GA after Biden won is what might have been that final nudge to get voters out to win both Senate seats in the special election.

(118,748 posts)and what kind of family you raise. It goes against the aspirations of the majority of people. The majority of people want to live good honest lives. A certain percentage don't. I think the egos and narcissism of the leaders in the GOP have them wearing foggy goggles. So we agree.
As evidenced by lifelong Republicans leaving the party after Trump.

It will force these knobs to keep trying to explain that this has nothing to do with race, thereby insulting everyone's intelligence.
It has to be named for exactly what it is.
