My son would have been deeply offended to know his death would be used to promote gun control; Officer Talleys dad speaks on King Soopers shooting
by: Dara Bitler
BOULDER, Colo. (KDVR) Homer Talley, the father of officer Eric Talley, who was killed in the line of duty during a shooting at King Soopers on Monday, spoke with TMZ about his stance on guns.
Officer Talleys father said his son was a staunch 2nd Amendment guy and he believes his son would hate to see his death used to promote gun control, according to TMZ.
His father also said Talley was a strong advocate for gun rights, and had an AR-15 he often used for target practice. He said he has seen the debate erupt over reforming gun laws, and although this tragedy cost him his son, he doesnt blame gun access and doesnt think Eric would either, according to TMZ.
Talley told TMZ, My son would have been deeply offended to know his death would be used to promote gun control. Before he was an officer, he enjoyed shooting.
FOX31 spoke to Talleys father hours after he was identified as the fallen officer in the shooting.
He was a man of heart who loved his job, Homer Talley said. He described Talley as someone who loved his family as he leaves behind seven children ranging in age from 7 years old to 20 years old.

"Yeah, it's a real drag losing my son like that, but don't you dare take away my guns!"

(82,849 posts)I guess the rest of us should just sit idly by waiting your son's fate at the hands of a deranged madman with a killing machine, too. God forbid we should do anything to avoid such a death at anytime, anywhere, because of you and your deceased son's fervent belief in the Second Amendment, which not all of us share.

(2,636 posts)No. This man is deeply offended that he will have to bury his son. He is deeply offended that his own support of free for all gun rodeo 2nd amendment got his son killed in the line of duty.
His cognitive dissonance about his good guy son with a gun not stopping the bad guy with a gun makes him blame...democrats and other Americans who want gun safety laws.
OK.
He's projecting. Of course, his son can't speak for himself, what with being dead from gun violence and all.

(10,274 posts)Sadly, even the avoidable murder of his son, at the hands of a lunatic who should never have been allowed to acquire an AR-15, will not shake Homer's belief in the absolute right to bear arms.

Especially when it comes to assault weapons.
If my career regularly put me in danger in a very systematic way, I think I would be keen on controlling that system.
I just don't get it.

(2,849 posts)Well he can twirl in his grave about it, as easy gun access lead to his demise, all the while he was armed.
