Knew today would bring relief. Did not to expect to feel emotional. Because my wife is now safe.

Like many people my main fear was not getting Covid myself but giving to the wife and having her become sick or even die. She is over 60.

Well today is the day we can feel sure her vaccine is fully kicked in. I’ve been feeling a huge amount of stress leave my body.

And of course we will still keep following all the practices we have followed for a year. But not being worried sick about her is the best thing in my life in a year. Better than when I get my second jab tomorrow by a long shot.

1. Congrats...my wife has been fully vaccinated for a couple of weeks

She was confined to office duty despite being in geriatric health care for the last year and just got to return to work at last - though with masks and distancing requirements in place.

I get my first dose (Moderna) tomorrow at 1:30 PM and I am relieved as well...though I still have a ways to go on my course, I finally feel there's an end in sight to this nightmare that cost my family so dearly and the country immeasurably.

I am happy to see more of these good news posts at long last!

Herself is fully vaccinated. I get my second shot on April 13. The world is becoming a little less threatening.

I'm still concerned about the number of folks in Arkansas that are refusing vaccinations but they're not going to grow brains at this late point. All we can do is all we can do.

6. I feel you

3 of our 4 parents are fully vaccinated now and Mama got her first last week. It really is a weight off of my shoulders, I’ve been much more worried about them than myself or hubs. We also had our first shot 10 days ago.

It’s a good feeling 😊

I literally danced and couldn’t stop smiling when my husband got his second shot. He is older than I am and I do all the shopping etc. I was so worried I would bring COVID home to him. And once he had his shots I was relieved, like you, beyond words. 🙂

10. Yeah, my wife is 6 years older than me.

I was actually eligible before her because I am rotund and was eligible before those 60-65 were able to get the jab. She a skinny-Minnie in perfect health except for a propensity to get walking pneumonia which scared me to death. Lungs and all.

We got up at 5:30am for her to get the J&J vaccine.

I’m still on cloud nine!

Meantime, I am still coping with thoughtless people in my apt building. The people at the end of my hallway are in a cul de sac, where two other apt doors are across from each other, perpendicular to the end apt. For over 4 hours, a group of teens sat on the floor in the cul de sac without masks, talking and generally horsing around. This is a seniors complex. Their mother was visiting her mother and her kids brought their friends with them.

The kids were blocking the doors of two apartments where seniors with risky health issues live. They were also obstructing access to the laundry room around the corner from them. I kept telling myself to ignore them and avoid problems. I had already spoken to their grandmother a year ago when she had a HUGE family dinner on Easter during the shutdown, with people coming and going all day.

But cases in my community have doubled in the past few weeks. Kids can be asymptomatic carriers. I finally went out my door, double-masked, and saw their mother with them, talking in the open doorway of her mother's apt. So I quietly and calmly suggested that maybe they did not understand how the virus works. I mentioned asymptomatic YOUNG carriers, the building's mask requirements, and how the virus lingers in the air for 5 hours. The mother said she understood all that.

So I asked why her kids and friends sat in the hall without masks for several hours. The grandmother just laughed. I said, "So you know, but you just don't care." Then I said I was calling the management office in the morning.

They have violated covid safety rules so often and so flagrantly that they were warned several months ago that if it continued, they would be evicted as soon as the eviction ban ends. I will not miss them.

Sorry for the rant. I'm just so tired of dealing with them.

13. Is anyone having any hefty side effects from the second shot? Anecdotally...

... among my social circle, just a few instances of flu symptoms for a day or a hard red welt for several days. Some, even in their 70s and 80s, no side effects at all.
