It's moving right along through the House!

2. It needs 60 votes in the Senate.

Manchin and Sinema won't matter.

5. Might make it as a reconciliation bill

There are 2 or 3 (I think) left that can be done this year

6. Reconciliation is for budgets only

How is statehood related to budget?

8. Territories & whatever DC is are in a limbo of taxation without representation. So statehood...

...is likely to have a neutral tax impact on the US budget. Currently they get one Representative in the House, but she can’t vote.

Wikipedia or Google is likely to tell you a lot more detail, but basically, they are already paying federal taxes but have no say in how the money is spent.

3. D.O.A.

One of many bills to come that will pass the House, and go nowhere.

4. We need the Senema and Manchin votes,...

.... when the senate bill comes up for DC statehood. If either votes no the issue is doomed for passage. Will they be willing to relinquish the power they hold over the Biden policy agendas ?

10. The Senate would need to end the filibuster

Until then it's DOA.
