I have only had my first dose and had no side-effects but am expecting them after my second one.

Tylenol, not Advil and not aspirin.

He said it was something to do with the inflammation response and the shot effectiveness

I specifically asked about it at the time and that was the advice to me. There was no discussion of Tylenol pro or con.

Here's what the CDC says:

Talk to your doctor about taking over-the-counter medicine, such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen, aspirin, or antihistamines, for any pain and discomfort you may experience after getting vaccinated. You can take these medications to relieve post-vaccination side effects if you have no other medical reasons that prevent you from taking these medications normally.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/expect/after.html

It seems it depends on whether there are other medical reasons that might determine which one is best.

The first 12+ hours were fine for me but hours 20 - 36 were filled with exhaustion that started to lessen around the 34 hour mark. I was back to normal after the second night's sleep.

and was in full force by the following morning, following Moderna 2 at 3:30 that afternoon. However, by that evening I had mostly returned to normal, and I was in old form by the following morning. It helped that my nausea was in the morning and brief and I was able to eat normally.

Hang in there, and hopefully it will pass for you soon.

...some effects may last longer than a few days.

But the fever and muscle ache should subside in a few days. Hit up the doc if it lasts longer than a week.

I was quite tired for several days, though I was able to function, but not at a high level.

Tylenol and ibuprofen helped a lot, as did naps!

I would suggest doing what you feel like doing and sleep when you want to. It will pass!

Tomorrow the aches will still be there but much better. More Advil.

Thursday there will be no aches but you will be tired, yet functional.

Friday, all done!!!

Rest up, drink fluids and take Tylenol/Advil/aspirin as needed. I hope you feel better soon.

Just remember, the side effects go away, the protection stays.

Got mine at 9:00am. By 8:00pm I was floored. Chills, joint ache, and fatigue. Slept until noon the next day and woke up with a 101.6 temp. Laid in bed all day and sweated all night. Next day fever was gone but I had zero energy. About 4:00pm it was like flipping a switch, felt about 90% whole again.

and I was fine.

This morning, I am achy, tired, and it feels like a block of lead in my chest area dragging me down. I'm also emotionally shaky.

Time for some soup and Tylenol.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

For me, I felt okay for nearly 24 hours after the 2nd Moderna shot.

Then the light-headed feeling and fatigue kicked in. I measured my temperature then, and it was 101F despite how I didn't feel hot.

It lasted for about a full day for me.

I tried tylenol and motrin. Neither seemed to help. After 16 hours of this, I took an Epsom salt bath and had nearly 100% relief for about 8 hours. Had minor symptoms after but was able to sleep. The next day I was fine. Highly recommend salt bath if you're able.

A "relapse" after ten days, and today is two weeks and two days ago I spent most of the day in bed, exhausted.

But, I also played golf Friday and Saturday and was fine.
