Biden's to get a cat to watch over their dogs

The Bidens first confirmed in late November to CBS News that they were planning to welcome a cat. Jill Biden teased the news in September, prior to her husband's election, during an interview with Fox 5 in Washington, D.C., saying, "I’d love to get a cat. I love having animals around the house."

While Major and Champ are the first dogs to live in the White House since the Obamas' Portuguese water dogs, Bo and Sunny, it's been since George W. Bush was in office that a cat prowled the premises. The Bush daughters named their family cat India. Jimmy Carter's daughter also had a Siamese cat named Misty Malarky Ying Yang, and Bill Clinton and his family had a cat named Socks. Major Biden is the first rescue dog ever to live in the White House

Most acquire multiple names during their runs.

Ironic that a WH cat was named Malarky 45 years ago and its one of Biden's catch-phrases now.

named Omega Double Cheeseburger after a local burger joint we liked. We found him huddled close under the wheel of the car where we’d get burgers. Teeeeeeny kitten, abandoned, lost, looking for warmth. I didn’t notice him down there and almost stepped on him as I started to climb back into the car. Thank goodness I spotted him in time!!!

Soon enough, we were calling him Dub, for short. And the name stuck for a lifetime.

We STILL miss him, 30-some-odd years later.

I have this vision of Major sitting in the middle of the room with 20 cats circling him as the trainer says "Now, that will teach him self control."

Yeah, I realize full well that it is not done like that but the image came to mind.

Winston belongs to one of Biden's granddaughters, but can't remember which one. He is currently "de facto" official WH cat. He will lose that designation once the Biden's get their own cat.
