I am going to post this link at my peril. I hope readers will

comment on the merits of this essay rather than the author.

1. Why would the Facebook board even bring this up

They are in a lose/lose situation, let him back on you anger a lot of people on our side, donít let him back in and right wingers cry about censorship....him getting kicked off has already died down....do nothing and people move on

2. This is an excellent, well-thought-out article. Thank you, my dear Raven!

He has written so clearly and lucidly about trump that I cannot see anyone with an ounce of sense denouncing it. No matter what people may think of the author, that should have no bearing on how good an essay this is.

I commend you for your courage! You should be very proud of him.

3. Excellent article, but I totally disagree

Mainstream corporate media pump the fascist bullshit out with no feedback and no consequences.

Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc are the PEOPLE'S media. Interactive. Let Trump talk his crap and instead of relying on a corporate daddy to censor him, get the FBI off their worthless asses and do their jobs.

Nice to see this posted here though

6. Trump means a lot of money to Facebook

and Zuckerberg is pretty much OK with Trump and his goals. So, they will let him back on.

7. Any corporate/business/media entity or individual who still hasn't decided about

former guy can't be trusted. At all. Thanks for bringing this up for comments.

9. The fact that Facebook is even CONSIDERING letting that monster again pollute our social media

is EXACTLY why I uninstalled them about two years ago and haven't looked back.

12. there are valid arguments going each direction

(on the larger issue of open forum vs censored, or curated?, content -- and not necessarily Trump as a specific case)

Unfortunately, Trump also offers a pretty good example of the danger inherent in unchecked freedom (or voice). But .. it's a legitimate dilemma. Once you've decided that freedom 'needs' a check -- then it's a pretty short leap to who gets to be the moderator. Zuckerberg? Murdoch? FCC? Homeland Security? State Attorney? Chinese Communist Party? It's not an easy question.
