General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI am both embarrassed and disheartened about how many posts I type and then scrap
because what needs doing cannot be discussed.
As Sean Connery put it, "What are you prepared to do?"

(16,109 posts)all the time. Probably more than half of my posts are typed, retyped and then discarded.
A lot of times I write it and figure I will be attacked for what I say, so I dont post. Recently I decided to post my reply to something and sure enough I was attacked.

I'm willing to take the heat for unpopular opinions.

(16,254 posts)clear some of the garbage we carry around out of our brain...even for a short time.
My inner self talks to me all the time. Sometimes it's even right. Sometimes we argue the points ad nauseum, that's when a post and its responses straighten everything out. LOL If the post doesn't make sense, scrap it. The exercise keeps us sane.

(36,055 posts)We learn to make concessions to our priorities. We just can't address everything. Don't be embarassed about being judicious. Besides, writing is thinking, and sometimes you just have to write to get your thoughts clearer for yourself, which is a good thing.
I feel okay about it when I realize that Biden uses the same scrapping process every damn day.

(32,639 posts)It happens to me a lot, the hesitation to post something tells me what I needed to know. If I can't be clear about a subject, then maybe I don't have a full grasp, or maybe I haven't thought it all the way through.
Scrapping a post that's not "ready for prime time" is often the BEST way to go.

(4,760 posts)of the posts I type. I can't explain this but my longer more thought out posts are the ones I am most likely to scrap.

(25,544 posts)I know exactly what you mean. In fact, the other day, I had a post removed because I must have had the bad luck of having my jury be the entire DU fan club of Marjorie Taylor Greene - i won't repeat my post of course. I've been posting here since 2004 and had my share of posts removed, but this is the first one wherein I said "WHAT!!??" out loud. Whatever....
I had thought about posting it but was certain that it was OK....what do I know? I just work here.

(2,810 posts)In fact, I came here when having a post count of 1000 meant you were an old timer. As you can see, I never kept up. Deleting what I write seems to be a favorite past time of mine.
And, of course, somethings just cant be said.
