https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/larry-krasner-carlos-vega-win/"Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner faced a rival candidate on Tuesdays Democratic primary ballot in the nations sixth largest city, but the progressive prosecutors loudest opponent was Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5.
The union that represents 14,000 current and retired officers in the city put its money and manpower behind fired former prosecutor Carlos Vega in an effort to block Krasners reelection run. The FOP and its allies made the primary contest a referendum not just on Krasner but on the criminal justice reform movement that the DA has championed over the past four years. "

about this one. I live in the 'burbs and can't vote for Philadelphia DA. Vega was not a great candidate in my opinion. My fear was that the police would turn out and swamp the Krasner vote in the off year election. Word was they were getting people to switch parties so they could vote against Krasner. I guess that was a waste of time.

Crime is rising in Philly and fair or not, there is going to be a lot blame aimed at his reforms if this trend continues.
