Based on the vaccination rates, we are seriously considering forgetting about that. We're considering waiting and going to the Keys where the vaccination rate is high for my husbands birthday in August. We also plan on going to NE for fall tree & maple run, but have no idea where the best places or times for this are. Guess I will be doing some research. We have definitely decided no Europe this year.

Here in New York, my county has done exceptionally well. It's amazingly one of the top in the nation. But we still have a long way to go, yet what I've seen is encouraging. On Friday, I took my brother to get his second shot at the state run facility at the local mall where they've started accepting walk-ins. The place was even busier than it was when I took him 3 weeks ago to get shot#1 - and there were not only older and middle-aged people going in, but saw some teens as well. I watched a young girl and an even younger boy (with half-green hair!) come out, each with their moms, and take a photo outside to commemorate the occasion.

Damned near a miracle, compared to what he was left with.

Once we got our program off the ground (ie, were able to get some vaccine in quantity), Canada has done smiilarly well.

We have close to 300 million doses given with Biden, I have no doubt we wouldn't be at 150 Million right now if Trump was in office. Biden moved heaven and earth to set and meet ambitious goals.

We'll hit 50% of the population with at least 1 dose later this week, if Trump were President we'd be pushing 25% and here's what he'd be saying, "25%, we have the best vaccination effort in the world, no one thought we could get to 150 million before 2022, and here it is May. Many people are saying this is the greatest vaccine effort in human history, better than the polio vaccine."

He'd be bragging about doing shitty, that is 100% certain. And he'd have banned masks long ago and ordered all states to fully open and also have in person class. We're at 600K dead, with Trump we'd be pushing 900K by now with no real slowdown on the way to 1 million. There would be no effort to contain its spread.
