Murkowski becomes second GOP senator to support bill on U.S. Capitol riot commission
Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski will support legislation to form a commission on the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol insurrection, she told reporters in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday.
Im going to support it, Murkowski said, according to The Hill.
Murkowski is only the second Senate Republican to voice support for the bill. Utah Sen. Mitt Romney announced he would vote for the bill Monday. Murkowskis spokeswoman did not immediately respond to questions about her support for the bill.
The bill establishing a commission to investigate the causes of the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol has already passed the House of Representatives.

(9,998 posts)Turtle does not mind a few crossovers. He does mind 8 or 9 crossovers, and there's no way that's going to happen.
IMO, 5-6 voting with the Democrats. The usual "moderate" suspects, and a couple of others.

(53,876 posts)but, like you say, there's a limit for defections.
And if there was ANY doubt to the outcome, Murkowski would not be coming out with her support right now. But now, she gets to look magnanimous.

They know that 59 Yes votes.......which will NEVER be reached, means the same as 1 Yes vote.
My prediction is 55-45, perhaps 56-44. But no way are the Democrats going to get 10 repubs to vote with them.
