Second-guessing Biden on the vote today

Sorry if this has already been posted.

It occurred to me that, in a pretzel-brained sort of way (this is about politics, after all), it might be a good thing if the Repugs vote it down. From what I've seen of Biden, he took the gloves off on Jan 21.

So I wonder if he's already planned on doing something along the lines of getting a special prosecutor to do the investigation. It would be fantastic optics for him -- "Hey, I tried working with you guys, but it didn't work and we're going to get to the bottom of this one way or another." It would by-pass all the namby-pamby BS of giving the Repugs what they wanted, and it might even implicate some of them.

And, to get even more Machiavellian, I have to wonder if Pelosi gave in on some of their demands figuring this would happen.

[Edit: deleted "appoint a special prosecutor."]

The president does not have the power to appoint a special prosecutor.

If one believes he will call on the Attorney General as his errand boy to do so, then one simply does not understand much of the events of the last several years.
