Teachers all over the country are stepping up to teach a lesson in equality.

Male teachers wore skirts to work last month in solidarity with a student who was pulled out of school and sent to a psychologist for wearing a skirt.
Fifteen-year-old Mikel Gómez said in a video that went viral this past October that he was taken to a psychologist by school officials when he decided to wear a skirt to his school in Euskadi, Spain. He said he wore the skirt to express solidarity with womens liberation.
I knew people would look at me badly, he said in the video that got viewed over two million times on TikTok. But he didnt expect to get pulled out of math class and taken to a psychologist who grilled him on whether he is trans and identifies as a woman.
When he said hes not trans, the psychologist asked him to wear pants instead and Gomez said that his parents later punished him for wearing a skirt.

(9,111 posts)Dan Levy (and his character David Rose on Schitt's Creek) has been wearing skirts for years. Skirt? Kilt? Whatever that style is. Sometimes with pants underneath, sometimes not. He was wearing one when he won the Emmy last year.

(14,035 posts)I remember a story a while back about men who were told they couldn't wear shorts at work, so they decided to wear a skirt instead. Did not violate the dress code. Caused more stir than if the employers allowed the men to wear suitable shorts.

In my view it's all just dressing.

At times in Uruguay, people think I am wearing gaucho pantalones.
Never have I been hassled, but airport security tends to take a second look.
On the streets, most everyone does look once, while those who think they know call out "Hare Krishna".
Being stared at and wearing a skirt in winter-cold taught me a little of what women have known and endured.

At some point the administration allowed girls to wear pants in winter, but only underneath the skirt.

(2,191 posts)I recently lost enough weight to fit into the kilt I wore at my wedding. I say we need more men wearing skirts, and when people ask "so, what's worn under the kilt?" We can reply, "nothing, it's all in perfect working order"!
