Probably pointless

But that’s never stopped me.

Just saw an OP title about the far right planning to take over Idaho.

Got me thinking. Maybe call this a thought experiment. Or just call me nuts and put me on ignore.

Sure, there are red states. But many red states have enough Democrats to at least stave off local versions of truly fascist governance. It’s close in Texas, I guess, but there are lots of Dems in this populous state.

By what about Idaho. Or Wyoming or North Dakota? Let’s say they go full far right wing extremist government. Militia leaders heading up law enforcement. Banning abortion no exceptions. Hell, maybe even go the full burqa route for women. Elimination of LGBTQ rights, no gay marriage. Test the limits of federal laws re discrimination. Double down on everything. Take no prisoners. No compromise.

Essentially hell on earth. Fascism within our borders.

Would the living lab testing fascism in America slow down the move toward greater ultra rw control in the us. Or would their fellow travelers flock to their new spiritual home and praise the thin end of the authoritarian wedge?

Maybe we aren’t all agreed that it can happen here. I fall into the can category. Bu what would happen if it did happen here on a state level?

Or do I just have too much time on my hands at the moment and I should go do the laundry or clean out the fridge?

I agree with you that it can happen here.

If it happens on a state level, I think it will spread, not stop.

And PS the comparison to Germany is apt. We just had our Beer Hall Putsch. It remains to be seen what we do with it.

10 years.

The republicans have been working in this for 40 years. They’re nothing if not patient.

Seems the just red crazies think the really crazies have gone too far and are wanting it to stop. Guess we’ll all see..doesn’t sound like they’re going to come together as one happy family.
