I really liked the Rachel Maddow show tonight.

She spent a lot of time urging Democrats to move forward with their agenda, as best they can. I liked her suggestion to cancel the August Congressional shutdown, or at least shorten it to a week, to continue working on important legislation and to confirm more federal judges. Democrats don’t have a lot of time to waste trying to appeal to Repubs, who won’t vote with them anyway. Manchin may be slowly moving forward to realizing that the filibuster will need to be altered for any Democratic legislation to pass.

'Burning Precious Time': Month-Long Vacation Not Best Idea For Democrats - Rachel Maddow - MSNBC

Rachel Maddow points out that when Republicans wanted to take advantage of their majority and get more done, they cut their August recess short, and argues that Democrats would be wise to do the same considering how much they want to get done and the acute risk of losing their majority control of Congress. Aired on 06/18/2021.

I missed part of the show so was getting caught up. And if you ever want to post a video, just ask me and I'll show you. It's not that tough if I can do it...

I saw it, too, and I liked how she showed the calendars, illustrating how little time is left.

Time to stop letting the turtle run out the clock. The month he stole from us in the beginning is bad enough.

AOC’s admonition was helpful, too.

She has that incredibly annoying habit of saying or describing the same thing 3 or 4 times, rewording it slightly but still, it’s as if she is talking to an audience of morons.

I like her reporting, I like her in-depth discussions and I like the way she frames subjects, but telling me FOUR FUCKING TIMES that the Democrats had “24 ‘precious’ months” forced me to turn it off. The last straw was when she said the senate takes august off, and then redid the math for us. Jesus Repetitious Christ!

And she does it all the time.

Ms. Maddow, we got it the first time. Your audience skews toward the intelligent end of the spectrum. You don’t have to talk to us like we are a second grade class, for fucks sake.

we teach that repetition is important to getting your message across.

Second, I personally like it that she reinforces her point with repetition, although that is for a somewhat selfish reason. That reason is that I rarely devote myself 100% to watching television. I'm making a salad or sorting out paperwork or some such thing.

But I do understand your point and I can see how it would annoy some people.
