Little known song fact about Eddy Grant's Electric Avenue

Grant filed a copyright lawsuit against the Trump campaign in 2020 after the song appeared in one of President Trump's campaign videos. In the animated ad, the tune plays as a high-speed train bearing the "Trump-Pence" logo zips past rival Joe Biden, who is creeping along in an old-fashioned car. Said Grant's attorney: "Eddy stands for peace and justice and this ad is not consistent with the ideals Eddy has stood for and sung about for years."

Because fuck you, Obese Parasite.

And it's President Biden to you, fuckturd.

"Who is to blame? In what country?
Never can get to the one
Dealing in multiplication,
and we still can't feed every one

Good God!..."

Like Ronald Reagan hearing the lyrics "Born in the USA" and being deaf to the rest of the song...

Founder member of "The Equals" one of the very first racially integrated British bands. There can be few, if any, artists less suitable to be used in the political campaign of a vile racist.

A friend of mine, we'll call him Joe, is good friends with Eddy. Joe asked ME to help him work on a digital media platform update for Eddy. Eddy also came into town (my friend and I live in the Metro Atlanta Area) for a promotional event and my friend even brought him out to my house (funny story there, too).

I also ended up visiting Joe's house to bring Eddy something (another fun story). Joe, Eddy and I of course were talking politics.

Eddy, DEFINATELY not a Trump supporter, still believed Trump was going to win another term. Of course I did not.
So, Eddy challenged me to a bet.
Ok Eddy. I was ready to put it on the line for my country. I'm willing to pony up big -- at least for me. What's it gonna be? $5? $10? $100? (yep, I was willing to go there)

Eddy says: One Dollar.

One Dollar? Really, Eddy? Cmon, man! But sure, ok. No problem.

November 3rd rolls around. Damn, it's really this close?!?. But hey, we're headed in the right direction numbers-wise, no matter what Trumpie said at 1:30 Wednesday morning. Well, butter my biscuits, looks like Biden might pull off Georgia, wow! Warnock won too? Oh man...

I spent the next 3 1/2 days in bed watching Kornaki do his thing. Finally, they declared Ossoff the winner, and I think shortly after that Biden the winner. That was great, of course.

But I was really the winner -- of a new, or I hoped it would be fairly new, George Washington note from the legend himself.

I must admit, it's been tough to collect my debt. I told Joe to tell Eddy I want my dollar. I don't know if he'll be in my area again, but if he is, I hope I have much better luck collecting than El Paso does against Trump.
