I saw a report earlier today, perhaps it was CNN, that interviewed some of these people that were arrested and none of them thought they did anything wrong. They are in complete, total denial.
They are a danger to society. They are a threat to anyone who does not believe the way they believe.
However, do not be surprised if they begin to call themselves "political prisoners" sometime in the near future. The "government" is their enemy. Democrats and their policies are the "government".
Assaulting the police and threatening elected Representatives of the people cannot go unpunished. Justice cannot be sugar-coated in radical political ideology. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

(12,480 posts)They are incapable of seeing themselves as wrong. They do not feel guilty or remorse.
They think they were doing gawds work as if they could comprehend gawd, funny how the republican gawd agrees with the militant right-wing beliefs these stupid assholes spew.
They are brainwashed to the point they are basically sociopaths
Or narcissistic. Thier personality is torn down and rebuilt into a dark triad personality like what is done in the military.
Some of these fuckers I have no doubt were dark triad before the brainwashing.

(32,778 posts)The Five Universal Laws of Human Stupidity
Law 1: Always and inevitably everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation.
Law 2: The probability that a certain person be stupid is independent of any other characteristic of that person.
Law 3. A stupid person is a person who causes losses to another person or to a group of persons while himself deriving no gain and even possibly incurring losses.
Law 4: Non-stupid people always underestimate the damaging power of stupid individuals. In particular non-stupid people constantly forget that at all times and places and under any circumstances to deal and/or associate with stupid people always turns out to be a costly mistake.
Law 5: A stupid person is the most dangerous type of person.

(12,452 posts)I think we'll see a LOT of plea-outs...maybe 80% of those arrested will plead guilty to something that delivers no jail time and a couple years probation + fines.
I think we'll see about 15% of them actually TRIED for assault and other felonies and I think 80% will be found guilty and see jail time up to 18 months-ish.
And I think there are maybe 5% who will be TRIED for serious charges, the Proud Boy and Oath Keeper types... again, most should be found guilty and I'd expect actual prison time of 5-10 years.
From what I've seen, the FBI isn't going after ANY of those who crossed barriers and assembled OUTSIDE the Capitol unless they assaulted police or destroyed property.
Looks like they're arresting people who ENTERED the Capitol and the estimate of those who entered is around 800.
Personally I think the trials should be televised and I expect them to be "Must Watch TV".

That's why they think they can start a civil war
