I live in Missouri. As a state employee who works for DMH I was considered front line. I received my first Moderna on Dec 28 and followed up 28 days later.

I say this because only 20 percent of my fellow DMH colleagues chose to vaccinate. Most decided it wasn't necessary. Many said it was a harmless virus even though we had a coworker and several individuals pass on.

Last week my kid was in the ER for a burn. Her nurse said we didn't need masks, even though it was policy. She then stated that she refused the vaccine and has told everyone she knows to refuse it.

If medical and mental health workers are refusing it for stupid reasons what do we expect from the rest of the public?

In Warrensburg.
Maybe when it becomes fully authorized they might but right now there are so many RW nurses working there that post about covid all over social media- they won't do anything, especially since one of the worst is a Daisy award winner.

Also, the local health board just had elections and a woman who swears clay will Cure covid was elected. Pettis County has a similar problem with its board.

I assume they are suffering the problems as other rural hospitals and they'll be sending everyone to the big city hospitals after they reach capacity, and the local schools are now mask optional

rates of infection and death.

But hey these people 'want to live their lives', to paraphrase NFL'er Cole Beasley.

Because, ya know, investing maybe an few hours of your time for 2 vaccinations REALLY gets in the way of doing that

Two of them are now dead from COVID19, three had to be hospitalized (don’t know their status). One person in the office didn’t get sick, that person was the only vaccinated person out of the six people. The office was on the seventh floor of a building that housed several hundred county employees. My guess is more people from that building will be getting sick and some will likely die. The county is a red county.

One person died two days after getting diagnosed. A second died at home (the article didn’t say anything about the circumstances other than the person had COVID19 and that killed the person).

According to the article, NONE of the five people (two dead and three in the hospital) had any comorbilities. They were in their fifties and forties, the youngest was like 38 or 39.

The county is sterilizing the entire building (at least 7 stories) and trying to do contact tracing for a building that has several hundred people working in it. Normally buildings that have that many people in one spot have common areas like cafeterias, vending areas or coffee service areas, that makes me believe that there are many more infected unvaccinated people at this point who have not gotten sick yet.

So, there likely a lot more covid infected individuals in there.
"Friday’s shutdown comes a little more than a month after the Board of County Commissioners voted 6-1 to remove COVID-19 safety regulations that had been in place for over a year."

I believe that the mild spring lured them into a trap. Now that AC is running full blast, we are going to see this replicated across the highly unvaccinated areas of southern states and places like Missouri, Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, ect.

Board voted to remove covid protocols since covid vaccine was available. Well, vaccine does no good when it's just sitting in the freezer.
Sounds like there were a whole lot of un-vaccinated people running around without any safety protocols left in place.

keep protocols in place. One of the republicans is a freaking Nurse. I don’t know whether you read the last paragraph of the article you posted (which was much more complete than the national one that I first read), but one of the republicans went to get vaccinated after finding out about the outbreak, that person had been a resistor.

Surprisingly, 55% of people over 18 have gotten at least one shot, which likely says the fully vaxxed number is in the 25%-30% range, a perfect hunting ground for a virulent variant like Delta or Gamma.

The building where the dead and sick people worked has 700 people daily working there. Also, the seventh floor is a pretty big floor, around a block square. With that many people, the five sick and dead people HAD TO have some daily contact with people from the 7th floor and other floors and a building with that many people likely had a pretty good sized cafeteria and several vending areas. I continue to believe there are a lot more sick people who will soon start showing symptoms.

There is enough evidence that if people want to avoid serious illness, they should get vaccinated. As far as I am concerned, any person that doesn’t have a medical reason for not getting vaccinated is responsible for whatever happens to him or her.
