Here's how you get southern Republicans to get vaccinated.

Rates for vaccination are the lowest in the southern states.
Older white male Republicans in the South love college football.
If those coaches would agree to make Public Service Announcements encouraging vaccines for all their fans to be able to come to their games, it would be a big success.

In case you haven't noticed, pretty much Everything is open and accessible to those who are unvaccinated.

There are a handful of exceptions, but for the most part, there's nothing stopping someone not vaccinated from attending ANY sporting event taking place this year.

There are a few Southern states that I doubt will reach 50% vaccinated when all is said and done.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be a good thing, I'm just saying that it's unlikely to happen. And even if it did, the anti-vaxxers probably won't care.

Not sure why you’re throwing a wet blanket here.
What would it hurt if Commissioner Greg Sankey of the SEC asked Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, Ed Orgeron and all 14 SEC Coaches to do this.
It might influence some people. That’s all I’m saying.

I just don't see it happening.

In fact, I hardly see it happening in other sports right now. Where are all the Professional athletes and coaches coming out in support of vaccination?

It wouldn't surprise me if some of those coaches in the SEC are anti-vax themselves.

You are right, it would have some influence. I guess we'll see, but I'm not holding my breath. Far too many in those Southern states have a stick up their ass.

That is already happening so no need to hold your breath

It says something like 'we want our stadium full and loud, so get vaccinated'

That Saban ad runs all the time on tv

There is also another one running all the time with Charles Barkley for the Auburn fans

They've got 1.35 million fully vaccinated out of 5 million people. 27% of the population.
I know young kids are part of that 5 million, so the vax denominator is lower. But, it's still under one-third of eligible people.
If even Saban can't move the needle, what would?

MostSEC schools seat between 90,000-105,000, by the way. That ain’t chump change.
Plus, direct appeals to college age students would help also.

Don’t put classes online. Require they be in class. If they’re not vaccinated, make then go through annoying hoops. They are making those that don’t upload their vaccination card, get tested every week and wear a mask. That gets old really quick when you’re in college.

How much influence Nick Saban has on political issues. (He’s a Democrat but that doesn’t influence them at all.) They dogged him on one football board when he protested with his team with a walk around campus. I actually left the board and wrote a letter to the guy that runs it. I turned those posters in as I thought the comments were inappropriate for a football board. They easily compartmentalize racism, football, covid, etc. so, great for Saban for doing it. Although, I’m not sure it will have much of an impact.

99% of the events in this country don't require any proof of vaccination. There are a small amount of exceptions, but there is ZERO chance that would even be discussed for College Football, let alone happen.
