If you want to know how baseless conspiracy theories get started, this is a good example. Someone with a big platform spews out some wild allegation with no substantiation, and other people start repeating it as fact because it appeals to them.

The next step is people start demanding that journalists take it seriously and insist that the media has to treat the allegation as credible until someone disproves it, despite the fact that there was never any evidence to back it up in the first place.

Depending on who asked and who was asked, I suspect that the "several" architects may have been playing CYA. Admitting that it may have been an act of nature would create the impression that whoever designed the building did not plan for it. IOW, architects pointing the finger at other architects.

How embarrassing. But I know they aren't embarrassed. So I'll feel a twinge for them since we belong to the same species. On second thought, I hope we don't. That would be too embarrassing for me. I'll just pretend I haven't a clue 'what' they are. I was going to compare them to another species in nature that I find as despicable as them, but I can't. I even like snakes better.

the city and county fear being held accountable for okaying building on fill/reclaimed land. That could be what that's all about.

In fact, I've come to the conclusion that all Republicans are cranks.

But I suppose there are all kinds of us, even Republican Architects. I don't know any, but it is theoretically possible.
