"SNIP......
A new Pew Research analysis finds that even as Donald Trump was narrowing Democrats margins with white women and Hispanic voters in the 2020 presidential election, Joe Biden was surging with other groups, like suburbanites, white men and voters who identified as independents.
Politico: Pews survey of validated voters members of their survey panel whom they could match as people who cast ballots on state voter files is among the deepest analyses of who voted in the last presidential election and how. And because Pew also conducted similar studies of the 2016 and 2018 electorates, its possible to track how both parties coalitions evolved across the Trump era and where the battle lines for the 2022 midterm elections may fall.
Nate Cohn: Married men and veteran households were probably not the demographic groups that Democrats assumed would carry the party to victory over Donald Trump in the 2020 election. But Joe Bidens apparent strength among traditionally moderate or even conservative constituencies, and especially men, is emerging as one of the hallmarks of his victory.

(15,325 posts)Spare the deep analysis.
He stood on the stage at the 1st Primary debate & quietly walked on, head assuredly held high, straight to the Oval Office.
That's because he's Joe Biden.
No showboatin', No bullshittin.
No fancy mocked up ad campaign.
Hard as they tried to lob scandal bombs in his way, Joe just kept being Joe till he sat behind Barack's desk & carried on like it was just another day at the Oval Office for him.
He knew what needed to be done & without boisterous grandstanding or media making headlines,.. went to work.
That is how Joe Biden became our President.
Its simple.

(15,325 posts)Should Biden run a 2nd term I expect a repeat for him.
Everyone else is pretty much unpredictable as 2020 statistics go, they are all on their own.
Unless they're Joe Biden, of course
His was a uniique moment in a crisis of America. He was the man for the moment.
An only because he's, Joe Biden.
We are grateful.

(15,325 posts)If ever there was a weathervane guiding undecideds, it would be the Black voting base.
And House Majority Whip James Clyburn is their weathervane.
He represents their history & guides their future.
Like Joe Biden, Rep Clyburn is trust & honesty.
Humility, faith & always a righteous eye on justice.

We need to get everybody on our team whatever voter ID is needed and the state D parties have to do whatever is required to foil their efforts at disenfranchisement and get our voters votes counted.
Hopefully, a lot of these voter restrictions will be tossed in court and enough bills helping the average Americans will be passed such that they see whos really on their side and will vote accordingly.

(15,751 posts)That would, imo, moderate further the centrist type voters to the Dem side.

(362 posts)Biden wasnt my first choice for the job. (I was more drawn to Warrens intellectual acumen.)
That said, we got very lucky in that Biden has a uniquely strong appeal to large parts of what used to be called Middle America, or whatevers left of it. Given how close the race was (electorally, anyway) I think its safe to say thats what pushed him over the top in the end, although every Democratic voter who participated or volunteered deserves a little credit, and of course the main Democratic constituencies certainly pulled through for Biden.
I dont think any other candidate up for the Presidency this past cycle would have beaten Trump. Honestly, I think a Trump re-election would have been a catastrophic defeat not just for progressive and moderate Americans, but for the entire planet. Thank goodness that was averted.
