...is that the taxes show he's really not close to as rich as he pretends to be.
The cult may have never formed if everybody knew he was a rotten businessman who owed almost as much as he had.
The bankruptcies would have been used as a hammer. His BKO actions weren't smart business, they were ways to cover major mistake after major mistake.

Since the mid-90s when Chump started with the casino bankruptcies, he has been understating his income and overstating expenses in order to reduce his tax bill. There have been at least 20 years where Chump paid no taxes at all, but he doesn't want Americans to know that.

These fraudulent documents were concocted by his businesses, so that his personal tax bills would stay low. It's a crime that involves the Chump businesses, the employees (such as Cohen and Weisselberg) and Chump himself. Long before he ever considered running for the presidency, he was already committing this tax fraud. That alone should have disqualified him from ever running for the presidency, but he got away with not showing his taxes, and enough American people voted for him anyway.

Whether or not his financial documents would have shown that he was laundering money for the Russians, well that's another crime, and it hasn't been proven yet. But Chump is already in a world of trouble. The feds are closing in and NY state is already after him.

… things like improper write offs, falsifying asset values, and hiding some income. All things that he would be proud of and his fans would approve. There is not a line on your tax return for “state how much you laundered for foreign interests”. Most of his tax crimes are likely the kind you pay fines for.

But it WILL show that his claims to be a billionaire are bullshit. He’s not “broke”, but he runs a mediocre real estate business that doesn’t make anything close to the money he pretends it does. He’s a shitty little two bit business man who learned years ago that he can fake wealth and usually get away with it. It’s that image that he doesn’t want damaged.
