Personal Check for Weisselberg tuition
A very interesting point on the benefits for Weisselberg's tuition payments - they were made by a personal check from the account of Donald J Trump.
This is interesting to me because I ask - Why would he do it this way? Making these payments out of the Trump org would further increase Trump org expenses and lower its taxable income. I highly doubt Trump makes these payments for Weisselberg's benefit only, what gives?
One theory: Due to the nature of the Trump Org business - specifically long term depreciation of real estate assets, it is likely that the Trump organization already had enough corporate expenses to make taxable corporate income zero. Further expenses for benefits such as this would provide no further tax benefit.
But, Donald Trump diddoes have other income sources (such as royalties from books and the Apprentice) that he would have to pay income taxes on. Therefore, if Trump makes these payments to the private school and classifies them as charitable donations, he further reduces his personal taxable income. Illegally, of course.
I'll be watching this closely, but if some form of this is what was done, Trump is toast. (among many other reasons, I'm sure) but this has a clear paper trail and is clearly illegal.
