Didn't see this on the first few pages... good reading.
As I predicted... Barf and HandMaiden are NOT going to strictly fall in line with Sleepy, Scalito and GoodHair on all cases...

The U.S. Supreme Court turned away a long-pending appeal from a florist who wont provide flowers for same-sex weddings, declining to rejoin a divisive debate at the intersection of gay and religious rights.
I've felt that Kavanaugh is more of a Libertarian and not a doctrinaire Conservative. And Barrett is looking after her public image... in fact, I'm not so sure that either of them will deal a blow to abortion rights...

(40,185 posts)that opined that this is more often than not could be a 3-3-3 court with a split among the conservatives Alito/Thomas/Korsuch and Roberts/Kavanaugh/Barrett.
Yet, we still saw them uniting against voting rights with some theory that sounded like states rights bullshit.

They could expand the court in 2023 and undo all of our work. We must bide our time until we regain a house of Congress or the presidency."
Handmaiden: "It shall be as you say. This project of undemocratically-imposed Christofascism is our life's work, after all. We should be patient to ensure we can succeed in passing the point of no return before triggering the inevitable backlash. If we tread lightly for now, soon it will be too late for the objectors to change anything within their lifetimes. Yes, we should wait..."

(5,499 posts)There are a great deal of unknowns. They may be socially more center than we have anticipated. I don't see Roe getting flipped. But there are going to be limits imposed. I think fetal viability absent an extenuating circumstance will end up being a new standard that probably comes out of next year's decisions. I think such a strong 7-2 ruling could shock the anti-choice crowd and really set back their influence and effectiveness.
I'm not convinced the voting decision is the death knell to democracy that others do. I think in states run by Republicans we will have to be extra diligent. We'll have to be extra diligent. These restrictions are issues that need to be discussed, that need to be a rallying cry.
