it's referred to all the time. To me, it's just the asshole coming down an escalator.
Is this when he announced his candidacy? It's referred to like Washington crossing the Delaware.
Is it a momentous incident in American history?

(4,164 posts)My take on it was that TFG was coming down to the unwashed, uneducated masses to bestow his thoughts on what was wrong with the USA. Always remember that he never shook hands with his supporters or got very close to any of them.

(25,242 posts)and he made it all the way down to the bottom (that is after he made it to the top of his game). Now he's a bottom feeder and going down fast without the help of an escalator this time.

(109 posts)I think it's also memorable because no one else does it so awkwardly like that. Everyone can just see you waiting on an escalator instead of coming out on stage to applause.

(12,165 posts)nothing spontaneous about it. Or anything special really.
Trumps PR team shaped the story and pitched it to the media. They showed up and covered it exactly as it was spoon fed to them.
Trump has a feral instinct for drawing media attention. He lives for it.
