Henry Winkler insists he isn't 'wishing for devastation' after controversial tweet linking

'cataclysmic event' to unity

Henry Winkler is offering some clarification after a tweet he shared on Saturday confused some users on social media.

On Saturday afternoon, Winkler tweeted, "We are So divided as a country .. only a cataclysmic Event , that makes us depend on one another again , can bring us back together."

Comments quickly poured in from fellow Twitter users, who seemed to suggest Winkler was out of touch, citing the COVID-19 pandemic that has killed more than 600,000 Americans, as well as climate change, wildfires, the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, and even the fire burning in the ocean.

Sunday morning, Winkler attempted to clarify what he meant by his earlier tweet.

Because every day every news cycle they are doing things that drive us further apart operating on revenge hatred and spite. Their leader is the catastrophe who has put us in a never ending Groundhog Day movie of vile hatred behavior.

If powerful human eating aliens invaded the world, some people would likely try to side with them.

For people to come together, something where each and every person fears, regardless or age or social status, immediate death will be required. Covid is not that type of situation so far.

would play it to the hilt that Pres. Biden is "soft on terror" and his plan to accept refugees is dangerous and besides VP Harris hasn't solved the border issues yet? And they'd have the both sides media that cheered on bush lined up behind them.

In the story, scientists try to prevent nuclear war by surgically altering one of their own to look like a freaky alien and sending him on a rocket to the UN so that everyone would believe they have a common enemy.

Democrats in Washington are trying to control them through vaccines, mask wearing and lock-downs, then it is easy to see why this has only polarized us even more.

And republican politicians are entirely to blame for that.

We are divided as a nation right now. And, yes, cataclysmic events do tend to unite nations.

Where's the controversy here? It's clear from his tweets that he wasn't actually wishing for a catastrophic event to occur, but merely that he was lamenting the current state of our nation.

Correctamundo?

He's wrong. Nothing is going to bring the right back to sanity. Remember how we all sorta' joined hands after 9/11. bush had a 91% approval rating or something b/c Dems do what's best for the country. There's no way in hell Gore would've enjoyed that support had he been in office. The psychos on rw radio and tv would've been attacking him immediately for not keeping us safe.

The left can come together for the greater good. The right never will. It's their way or the highway. That's why the recalls like Newsom is facing. When they don't get the results they want, they cheat their way to try to reverse it and get their desired outcome. We just accept it, roll up our sleeves, and say we'll get 'em next time.
