Heard a couple blasts this afternoon. Nothing tonight. Never have seen this before, but its bone dry here and apparently people are acting responsibly.

(25,926 posts)I'm in Santa Fe, NM, where serious drought conditions are in effect. Lots and lots of fireworks. I called the police twice, and was assured they are out there, but none over them ever showed up in my neighborhood. I'm beyond sick and tired of this. I wish I could bring immediate consequences on the ignoramuses who are shooting off fireworks.

Sorry, I get caught up in the Phantom Fireworks commercial here.
Indeed, The main city here has North America's largest stockpile of fireworks.

(10,284 posts)Still, I'm getting really tired of imbeciles feeling the need to blow shit up every holiday. Tomorrow the local news will be full of reports about these fireworks fools losing eyes and fingers.

(17,715 posts)The nights have sounded like the battle of the Somme Friday, Saturday and last night. I have heard a lot of money going up in smoke.
With the combination of explosives, incendiaries, and copious amounts of alcohol, what could possibly go wrong?

What is the thrill of going through neighborhoods or condo/apartment complexes and throwing loud fireworks outside someone's window? I'm getting increasingly annoyed.

(4,999 posts)Someone shooting off aerial fireworks on every block. Looking at the horizon of Tacoma there were 10 - 20 star shells going off *constantly* from about 10pm to midnight.
Even though it's urban, there are plenty of patches of vegetation to set on fire.

I think there were a lot less this year. Costs went up so that might be part of it. But I also think that people posting in Nextdoor or FB about how terrible fireworks are fir their pets and loved ones with PTSD has made a difference.

I had a pounding migraine and my dog was sequestered in the kitchen.
I hope they don't do it again tonight.
