I live a few miles down the road

from Intercontinental Airport Houston, so literally hundreds of planes fly over my house daily. It's not as bad as it sounds, I don't really notice them usually.

Some days, like this morning, my 2 year old and I will hang out on the swing outside and he will point out every plane he sees flying over with his funny way of saying, "See one!" It's a fun and relaxing activity he and I share.

With all the anxiety and anger I am prone to feeling in this day and age, I sometimes have to stop and let it go in order to remind myself there are moments to take in and just "see one".

Corny i know, but it's real.

11. When I was nine we moved to a house about 3 miles from LaGuardia Airport, on certain days....

....we were under the approach path for the planes. I used to lay in the backyard on my back watching them for hours.

A month or so after moving up to CT I thought, "there's something missing." Oh right, airplanes!

12. I live under the flight path of KHI

And my two year old also likes watching them. But he’s a dog and thinks they’re just really big crows…and he hates crows!

Thanks for the smile!

13. You might be interested in checking out the Flightradar24 app

It's a pretty awesome free app that maps aircraft flights and flight paths around the world, along with originating/destination airports, flight scheduled departure/arrival times, and altitudes. And for $10 annually it will give one a pilot's view out the cockpit.

14. I used to fly out of Houston Intercontinental .. way back when.

My company, Transco (Transcontinental Gas Pipeline), had a hangar on the west side. I flew Learjet 25Bs, Learjet 55s, and a four-engine Lockheed JetStar-2. Great job. Ken Lay was my boss before he started Enron.
