60 percent of White House staff are women, over 40 percent people of color

A new report profiling White House staff reveals 60 percent of appointees are women and 44 percent represent racially or ethnically diverse backgrounds.

The report, released Thursday, was delivered to Congress, reported Reuters, and includes the titles, names, and salaries of all of the president’s political appointees. The recent figures indicate Biden’s staff is the most diverse administration in U.S. history.

“President Biden’s Cabinet reflects his pledge to appoint leaders of government agencies that reflect the country they aim to serve,” the White House website reads.

The personnel report also noted that the pay gap between men and women in Biden’s administration is just below one percent, with women earning $93,752 on average while men earn $94,639 on average. By comparison, the Trump administration had about a 20 percent gender pay gap and the Obama administration reported an 11 percent gender pay gap by his final year in office.

That 40% number is 3x the overall US demographic share. Ample representation is one thing, but that seems extreme
