I imagine many of them don't even know what the more accurate "fascist" means.

(9,500 posts)If they were sporting swastikas or wearing t-shirts saying, "6 million wasn't enough", then chances are they are Nazi's. But Fascist is a more accurate term as it fits Trumpism to a T.

I'd say the best description is palingenetic ultranationalism with a capitalist emphasis

MAGAt: Thank you for your service.
Veteran: Fuck off, traitor.

Wasting intelligence over a Trumper is futile.

(66,481 posts)I think, looking back on the history of the Nazis in Germany, that we get confused by the flashy uniforms, the neckties, the shiny boots, the marching, and the discipline. For all of that, the Nazis were nothing more than squalid street thugs. The ranks were bulging with losers, criminals, pimps, misfits, the undereducated, and so on. The same is absolutely true for TFG's followers.

Fascism is a generic word. Nazi is a specific name for one group of fascists.
So, it is inaccurate from the very start.

(13,903 posts)Modern fascists who call themselves neo-nazis are not really nazis. Trump isn't Hitler, he isn't like Hitler. He isn't a nazi.
Trump is not a fascist from the last century he is a modern fascist, an American fascist.
IMO, Trump is a christofascist. Christian fascism. Trump isn't really christian but he has no problem using fundie Christians to support his fascist agenda and wannabe dictatorship. I don't think that the fundie leadership think Trump is a christian, but they have no problem using him to support their goal of an American Christian Theocracy.

It's a gut punch against those who've been gut punching for 50+ years.
Eliciting a visceral reaction is more important that sociopolitical accuracy.
