If anyone thought that the deadly insurrection that took place on January 6th in Washington, D.C., was a transitory affair that concluded when the rioters were driven from the Capitol, think again. That was just the opening salvo in a battle that is still ongoing. And it is a battle that Donald Trump and his Republican confederates intend to exploit for as long as possible, causing as much harm as they can. Never mind how delusional they have become about all of it.

As evidence of the Trumpian right's determination to wage another civil war, witness the remarks by Rep. Mo Brooks (R-QAnon) at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Dallas, Texas, on Friday. His speech was a call to arms to the CPACers, aimed at whipping up their already seething hostility and hatred for fellow Americans (i.e. Democrats and liberals) that he, and most other CPAC speakers, viciously and falsely malign as Marxists and communists (which they couldn't define if their lives depended on it). Brooks ranted that...

"Our choice is simple. We can surrender and submit, or we can fight back as our ancestors have done. Think for a moment about our ancestors who fought at Valley Forge. They didn't fight the British, they fought for survival. Twelve thousand Continental soldiers arrived. Five, six months later two thousand had died.

"Think about what they went through. Burying your brothers, your fathers, your sons. Ten to fifteen a day, every day for six months. That's the kind of sacrifice that we have to think about. And I ask you: are you willing to fight for America? Are you willing to fight for America? Well, the choice is simple. This is how you fight for America. This is what America needs you to do."

Any congress person with a "D" by their name. There was a news report just last week of a state democratic representative who had shots fired into their home.

They went after heads of health departments too -- in their own homes again. That happened in Idaho. No guns fired there, but you can be sure they had the guns.

In Washington they not only surrounded the governor's house, but broke through the gates and gained access to the house itself, though fortunately did not make it inside.

In Oregon, armed idiots were let into the legislature by a GOP representative.

You've seen the pictures of the "militia" in the statehouse of Michigan.

This is just in the past year.

These folks are riled up, they have guns, and are starting to use them. They know they cannot win democratically anymore. Thus the guns and violence as a last resort.

A determined group with trained, experienced leadership and strategic planning could do a lot of damage, backed by militias, RW cops, and thugs. The real threat is not armed insurrection. But election shenanigans. I’m not as worried about that as many here. African Americans are the only ones among us who historically know what the vote means. Give them something to vote for and they will find a way to vote. And as always, it’s the African American vote they try to suppress. Their real problem is white suburbanites, especially women have abandoned them. That why they are ginning up crime and race. Like always, it will come down to who gets to the polls. Trump is not on the ballot. If democrats work their asses of it could be another 2018.

Last poll I read said 53% of republicans don’t believe Biden is legit. But that means 47% do. If republicans house candidates run on that, which most are, they will lose 20% of their base.

More and more of my rational Republican friends and co-workers are demoralized. They aren’t religious nuts but grew up in Reagan years and still believe in small government bullshit.

They are shrinking their base down to the loudest among them.

Last I read only 25% identify as republicans.

I've never seen anything like this before. They are not even trying on the merits. Look what they're doing: Taking cheap shots at Biden, in an effort to diminish his ability to govern; demeaning Pelosi and Kamala because they are very powerful politicians who are forging ahead despite Repub obstructionism; trying to change the history of what happened on January 6th; setting up to steal the next elections; suppressing the vote; and telling those gullible people they they will have to die to protect Democracy within their own country, when the threat to America is Trump and the Repubs, or the T.P.

I hope someone on our side is taking notice of this talk. Yes, they have Freedom of Speech, which our government gave to every citizen. But, I think words like this are changing people's reactions. Sure, they can say them. But, other people will start to think differently and react differently. Are they sure they want their party spokespeople saying this stuff? Their listeners are really stupid; they are probably being used in a second attempt to overthow our government.

These people won't be jailed and allowed to plead their stupid I-don't-recognize-your-law-defense. They will be dead. We are not going to allow an insurrectionist just to flash mob the government and walk around befouling our building. They really think that nothing will happen to them? That they'll go home and eat their dinners like nothing happened? They're going to be dead! While the guys that started it will be nowhere to be found when the reckoning begins. That's always the way it is, throughout history.
